Between The World and Me, Ta-Nehisi Coates

In June of 2020 our CEO made sure that all 44 Langranders had this book—a book she personally inscribed—hand-delivered to their homes.

Published in 2015, Between the World and Me is a letter to Coates’ teenage son and highlights the author’s experiences growing up Black in inner city Baltimore. It speaks about the struggle of race relations, violence against people of color and the forces and themes and racism that defined our nation’s history and continue to impact its future.

Take Toni Morrison’s advice: This is required reading. If you’d rather watch a film, check out the adaptation on HBO. But don’t skip the book.
